“You’ll be better by far to be just what you are. You can be what you want if you are what you are.”
Speaking of The Animals, I’ve been thinking about the O Lucky Man! soundtrack a lot lately, which happens to also be one of my favourite movies. The soundtrack was written by Alan Price — that’s his organ solo on The Animals’ House Of The Rising Sun you know — and serves as something of a greek chorus throughout the film. They even cut to the band jamming out the songs with director Lindsay Anderson in a smokey room within the movie. Here’s the opening number that sets the tone and themes of the film: “O Lucky Man”. If you haven’t seen the movie, this is one you should be seeking out.
